Arboretum Cabinets

The uniquely beautiful hand carved Arboretum Cabinets are inspired by my surroundings.
In the workshop, near my home and on my dog walks, trees are everywhere. My home overlooks a valley with a forest on the other side. Nestled in the forest is a house with some lovely trees in its garden, almost a mini arboretum.
I’ve always loved folk art and also the fantastical kids TV programmes from the 70s such as The Magic Roundabout, Crystal Tipps & Alastair and James the Cat, with the otherworldly foliage and trees. These influences seem to have merged to create these pieces.
For the Arboretum Cabinet Tall I wanted to bring my hand skills to the fore.
The trees are hand carved and then the carved design is painted by hand in an array of colours. The design continues from the doors around to the sides.
Each cabinet or sideboard will be unique with some small differences in tree designs, placement and colours.
The Arboretum Collection offers two cabinets to buy directly from the website but these beautiful pieces can be made in any size, be it a cabinet or a sideboard.
If you would like a specific colour scheme for the tree designs, ie; greens/golds or coppers/blues, please let me know.
Otherwise, the design will be multicoloured.

Everything is designed by Nell Beale and made in her workshop near Bath, UK.
The main material used is called Valchromat, an environmentally friendly wood based composite.
The hand turned solid timber legs are stained black to complement the black of the cabinet.
The doors open with a pressure catch to negate the need for handles.
The doors are hung using black Blum hinges.

Finished with Osmo Polyx Oil

The Tall cabinet has one fixed horizontal shelf and two full width adjustable shelves.
The Square cabinet has one fixed central upright and four adjustable shelves.
Arch Cabinet 4 door

Simple lines and lovely timber grain make these stylish Arched door cabinets with coloured legs highly desirable and useful pieces of furniture.
Available in a 4 door version and a 6 door version.
I've even made an 8 door version for a client so do get in touch to discuss longer versions.
Made from Oak or Walnut veneered Birch plywood there are several colour choices for the legs, pink, yellow or black.
The doors open in pairs and have one adjustable shelf behind each pair, ie; 2 shelves in the 4 door and 3 shelves in the 6 door.
The doors open with a push catch system negating the need for handles.

This collection of cabinets with Arched doors have a pleasing form with their chubby turned legs.
These cabinets with Arched doors are made
from Oak or Walnut veneered Birch plywood with Black Valchromat tops, there are several colour choices for the legs.
Available in 4 or 6 door versions.
The doors open in pairs and have one adjustable shelf behind each pair, ie; 2 shelves in the 4 door Arch Cabinet and 3 shelves in the 6 door Arch Cabinet.
The doors open with a push catch system negating the need for handles and maintaining the simplicity of line.

With it's blue doors, black sides and gold grooves, the Loop sideboard in Blue and Gold adds elegance and a touch of opulence to your home. A glamourous piece of furniture without being over powering.
With a depth of 300mm, the sideboard is narrow, a feature that is often required but at the same time, offers a surprising amount of storage.
The sides are stained black rather than the natural walnut of some of the other Loop Cabinets and sideboards in the collection, a decision I made so as not to include too many colours in the piece.
