A beautiful cabinet inspired by the wooded valley that Nell overlooks from her sitting room.
Playing with carving and then painting and then the reverse technique of painting and carving, the design takes your eye into the distance with the woodland scene becoming smaller and smaller as it travels up the surfaces.
The top of the doors, sides and back are shaped to mimic the distant tree line on the horizon.
Made from Black Valchromat which is a material made from wastewood and is coloured with organic dyes, the use of colour against black makes for a striking piece.
A solid Ash underframe is mortised and tenoned and stained black.
The legs are shaped by hand to suggest the shape of tree trunks.
This cabinet has sold but Nell is able to make her customers completely bespoke pieces based on this cabinet and can offer custom dimensions and colour palettes.
Each piece in the unique collection is entirely made by hand and every piece is marked as an original CoucouManou piece with a brass plate on the back.

One of two triptychs which have been created using hand drawing, carving and painting techniques.
Inspired by her surroundings, Nell has created a stylised view of the wooded hillside she sees from her current home in the countryside near Bath.
Opening the doors the viewer is invited into a magical undergrowth, with imagined trees and plants adorning the surface.
The piece has painted designs on the outside of the doors aswell as on the inside and Gold paint is used as a nod to religious triptychs although the thinking behind it was a homage to the natural world. The colour palette used in this piece represent Spring.
Nell draws the pattern free hand and then uses several techniques and processes, including hand carving and painting, to create these magical pieces of art.
This piece is totally unique and made by hand.
Every piece is marked as an original CoucouManou piece with a brass plate on the back.
